Bazant Pohoda 2011

Évről-évre, egyre nagyobb sztárokkal várja a fesztiválozni vágyókat szlovákia egyik legnagyobb éves zenei eseménye, a Bazant Pohoda. Idén olyan előadók és djk teszik itt látogatásukat, mint a Magnetic Man, Moby, Portishead, DJ Krush, Rusko, vagy B-Complex.

The dance scene has its unique place at Bažant Pohoda festival and the organizers are trying hard to have the selection of the best of what is going on in clubs. Latest confirmed performers in the festival line-up are currently acclaimed dubstep stars Magnetic Man and Rusko, electro with techno elements Simian Mobile Disco, drum’n’bass representative Dirtyphonics but also one of the most successful Slovak music ‚exports‘- B-complex.

Band Magnetic Man is made up of three godfathers of dubstep – Skream, Benga and Artwork – who turn their three computers into a condensed and catchy fusion of musical instruments, beats and rhythms beyond the original genre: dubstep. “With all three of us doing it it’s going to get ultra-no-holds barred. This is Magnetic Man. It’s no longer three people: it’s a whole." says Skream who performed with its solo project at Bažant Pohoda last year.

Today, Magnetic Man are regarded as British dance music scene leaders; their eponymous debut released in October 2010 became Nr. 1 in the UK Dance Chart and their album made it to the 5th place in the UK Albums Chart.

Another Englishman dedicated to the same music genre is Chris Marcer aka Rusko, currently one of the most acclaimed representatives of dubstep. He records for cult label Mad Decentand on top of this, manages to bring this genre to public notice. At the same time his sets don’t lose any of their effervescence, energy or power of making you wanna dance. Rusko’s unguided music missile.

London-based duo Simian Mobile Disco gained fame for their remixes and electro-pop hits already several years ago, but their latest album Delicacies released in November 2010 has been made to perfection with stronger techno sounds. James Ford, one half of the duo, is famous as a producer and has worked with bands such as Florence & the Machine, Arctic MonkeysPeaches and Klaxons; lately he’s produced a solo EP of Beth Ditto /Gossip/. „Simian Mobile Disco live is a great and funny entertainment.“ says Jana Polnischová from Pohoda Agency. SMD are not only known for their terrific shows but also for their analogue production. „I don’t know why it works but I love it.“ says Jas Shaw, the other half of the duo.

“In this day it’s hard to do something new in music and that’s exactly what they’ve done right from the start,” said drum and bass legend Shimon about French DJ quartet Dirtyphonics. They are regarded as representatives of d ’n’ b, but they themselves refuse this definition and prove that they like a whole scale of electronic music, d ’n’ b, dubstep, break electro as well as hip-hop. What is more, their live performances have energy of a rock concert. In 2009 they won the prestigious Best Newcomer DNB Arena Award and today rank among the best dance music scene representatives.

At the 15th annual Bažant Pohoda you’ll have the chance to see the greatest ‚export‘ of Slovak drum’n’bass – B-Complex. Although he was given a Radio_Head Award for Best Newcomer only a short time ago, he’s been a fixture on the drum’n’bass scene for more than a decade. But not only in Slovakia, because he releases his records in a major UK d&b label Hospital Records and plays shows all over Europe and Australia as well – these days he is heading to New Zealand.

The list of confirmed performers includes also new names from other than the dance scene: one of them is WWW, an alternative formation that belongs to the best on the current Czech music scene, having performed at our festival last year as well; the other one is a new finding of the organizers: Islet from Cardiff, Wales. „Recently we have seen their amazing show at Eurosonic festival in the Dutch city of Groningen. Four musicians were rotating between instruments, howling and running all over the stage and together it was an absolute joy of music.“ explainsJana Polnischová, in charge of production in Pohoda Agency.

More than 40 performers have been confirmed by the organizers so far, including Portishead, Mobyho, Public Image Ltd., dEUS, Beirut, Peter, Björn and John and many others.

Full-festival tickets are on sale for 59 € at present, but from 15 March 2011 prices are changing: full-festival tickets will be priced at 69 € and one-day tickets /Satuday only/ 59 €. So far more than 10.000 tickets have been sold; the festival capacity is limited to 30.000 people. The festival is to be held 7-9 July 2011 at the Trenčín Airport.

Latest information on the festival is available on www.pohodafestival.sk.
